It starts out like vintage ’60s exploitation—a gloriously naked 21-year-old Marianne Faithfull rolls out of bed and squeezes into a skintight motorcycle suit. But while her body is unquestionably the centerpiece of Jack Cardiff’s film—the subtitle is Naked Under Leather, for crying out loud—her psychedelic European journey is astonishingly artful, as she travels on a whim to see her lover and undergoes subtle internal transformations.
